DAMORE STUDIO is an architecture and planning practice focused on creating buildings that perform as well as they look.

We specialize in multifamily, affordable housing, residential, mixed-use, new construction, and rehabilitation projects throughout New York City, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

 

We understand that a successful building is more than a beautiful design. It needs to work for the people who live in it, the owners who invest in it, the contractors who build it, and the communities in which it belongs.

That is why we approach architecture from the beginning with the entire life of the building in mind.

Our experience in affordable housing and multifamily development has taught us that the best architectural solutions often come from understanding the project as a whole.

We consider construction cost, constructability, schedule, zoning, energy consumption, maintenance, durability, insurance, operations, and long-term value as part of the design process—not as issues to be addressed after the design is complete.

We look for ways to simplify construction, eliminate unnecessary complexity, use materials and systems intelligently, and make buildings easier and more economical to build and maintain.

The result is architecture that is not only thoughtfully designed, but also practical, efficient, durable, and financially responsible.

Sustainability is fundamental to the way we practice architecture.

We believe sustainable design should do more than reduce a building's environmental impact. It should also improve the building, improve the experience of its occupants, and make economic sense for its owner.

We integrate energy efficiency and high-performance strategies into the design from the beginning, including building envelope performance, insulation, high-performance windows, efficient mechanical systems, renewable energy, geothermal systems, solar power, battery storage, and Passive House principles where appropriate.

We believe every building has a responsibility to its surroundings.

Whether we are designing in a dense New York City neighborhood, an established Connecticut community, or a growing New Jersey municipality, we begin by understanding the context, history, scale, character, and needs of the neighborhood.

Our buildings are designed to respect and strengthen the streetscape rather than simply occupy a site.

We carefully consider building scale, proportions, materials, entrances, ground-floor activity, landscaping, views, and the relationship between the building and the public realm.

But contextual architecture does not mean copying what is already there.
